Calistoga is enjoying a resurgence in media attention, building, and real estate prices as Wine Country visitors, investors and vacation home owners turn their attention to the bustling and charming community of approximately 5,000 residents.
Founded for Healthy Lifestyles
This northernmost town in the Napa Valley was founded in 1885 by California’s first recorded millionaire, Samuel Brannan, who had purchased 2,000 acres here in 1862 and opened the area’s first spa. In fact, the town became synonymous with spas and hot springs as wealthy and famous visitors from San Francisco began flocking to the resort with the arrival of the railroad.
Rich History. Laid-back Luxury.
The National Trust for Historic Preservation has awarded Calistoga “Distinctive Designation.” Its rich history of commerce includes silver and mercury mining, agriculture and tourism. The town offers more of a laid-back “Western” ambiance than the other more polished Napa Valley communities, however a luxury resort in the world-class Auberge Collection and Solage are at least partly responsible for more and more of the well-known and well-heeled choosing to visit.
