As the “Culinary Capitol of the Napa Valley,” tiny Yountville is home to three Michelin-starred restaurants, including The French Laundry, owned by world-renowned Chef Thomas Keller. Many other of the town’s eating establishments are award-winning and chef-owned. Luxury spas, hotels and inns take center stage here as well.
The charming hamlet – located in the heart of Napa Valley and home to approximately 3,000 residents — also has its own theater, museum and 9-hole public golf course. In 1999, the area was approved as the Yountville AVA, an American Viticultural Area, which means it is a unique area for growing premium wine grapes. Warmer than the Carneros region, its southern neighbor, it is somewhat cooler than areas to its north and west.
The town’s name is derived from that of early pioneer and entrepreneur George Calvert Yount, who was responsible for starting the first vineyard in Napa Valley.
